- There are so many tuition agencies out there, how do I know that Top Minds International is the tuition agency for my child?
At Top Minds, we are dedicated to selecting the best fit of tutors for your child. We maintain a strict set of in-house rules when choosing tutors and will only recommend the most suitable tutors for your child.
Our feedback system also allows us to constantly refine and improve on our services so that we will continually offer the best to your children.
Top Minds is also one of the few tuition agencies that recognize the need for a holistic approach to a child’s education. Many times, the problems with school work goes deeper than merely a lack of technical knowledge. This is why we offer the integrated training programme that encompasses elements of life coaching, motivation and technical training within a single package – designed specifically to bring out the best in the child and his or her learning abilities, and to make learning fun and fulfilling for them. All these courses are conducted by certified life coaches with many years of experience in training and educating.
- Is it common that a child has difficulty coping with the workload from school?
Yes. In our current education system, the academic syllabus is rather heavy and competition among peers can sometimes be very keen. We need to realize that it is definitely NOT the child’s fault if they require help to cope with their studies. In fact, many of the students with good results receive help from parents and/or tutors as well.
What is most important is to identify the needs of the child – does he / she need academic guidance or simply some encouraging and incentive to perform? Understanding the child’s needs would go a long way in giving him / her a well-rounded and effective education.
- Is Top Minds able to arrange group tuition for my child?
Yes, our tutors offer both individual as well as group tuition. Just let us know how many students there are in the group and we will recommend you a suitable tutor. The rate per student is usually lower than that for individual tuition. However, in individual tutoring, the tutor can give undivided attention to the child.
- What if the recommended tutor is not suitable for my child?
If, for valid reasons, you feel that the tutor is not suitable for your child, you will not need to pay the tuition fees if you feedback to us before the start of the second session. You will be able to get a replacement under this circumstance. However, if you only decide to do so after the tutor has attended more than two lessons, you will need to pay the tutor the fees for the corresponding number of lessons.
Valid reasons would include bad attitude, violence, dishonesty, unbecoming behavior towards the child or a lack of aptitude in the subjects he / she is teaching. Top Minds reserves the right to make the final judgment on your feedback.
- What are the payment terms?
There are no extra coordination / consultation fees (unless otherwise stated). For the first month, you will pay the tutor 50% of the agreed rate and the other 50% to Top Minds International as agency fees. Our tuition coordinators will contact you to advise on payment methods before the end of the first month. Subsequent payments will be settled between you and the tutors.
TUTORS
- Does Top Minds get a commission from tuition assignments?
Yes, Top Minds receives 50% of your first month’s pay as agency fees. This is a one-off commission. Subsequently, you will receive the full 100% of your tuition fees.
- Do I need a minimum qualification to be able to register as a tutor with Top Minds International?
Yes, you should have a minimum qualification of a diploma or an ‘A’ Level certification. This is so that we can ensure that all our tutors are able to provide quality tuition to students.
- Do I have to be a Singaporean citizen in order to register as a tutor with Top Minds International?
No! ALL competent and qualified tutors are welcome to join us.
- I notice there is a “Featured Tutor” column in the website. What do I have to do to be selected as a featured tutor?
Top Minds regularly picks out tutors to be featured based on parent testimonials & feedback, academic qualifications, good work ethics and several other factors. It is our way of recognizing dedication and effectiveness in a tutor.
- What happens if my new student’s parent(s) decides to replace me before the end of the first month?
We will only accept the parent’s request for a replacement should we feel it is fair to both sides and in the best interest of the child. Should we finally decide to accept this request, the tutor will forego the pay for the first lesson if the parent raises the request before the second lesson.
However, if the parent raises the request after the second lesson, payment will be made based on the number of lessons covered. Within the first month, the tutor is still obliged to return 50% of this payment to Top Minds.
- What if I want to cancel the tuition within the first month?
Should you wish to cancel, you will have to inform Top Minds. You may then negotiate with the parent/guardian on the payment terms. You will still be obliged to return 50% of the payment to Top Minds for any payment made for the first month.
